Purchasing Specialist

Responsible for all purchases for the manufacturing facility.

Authorizes and submits purchase orders for goods and services. Schedules all shipments/releases for delivery to meet manufacturing needs. Shipments and releases must also be structured toward corporate inventory goals.


  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent purchasing/procurement work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge/skills/experience required with Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint; printer, scanner, phone system, data entry, etc.
  • MRP system knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Good problem solving skills with very close attention to detail.
  • Excellent follow up skills.
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliable.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow English verbal and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screen.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Purchase products, goods, parts, and components needed for the manufacturing facility with the use of a MRP system and/or other tools.
  • Authorize and submit purchase orders for other goods and services related to manufacturing facility (i.e. office supplies, paper goods, custodian supplies, break room supplies, safety and first-aid supplies, etc.).
  • Schedule incoming product with releases to meet manufacturing needs and inventory goals (including inventory turns).
  • Maintain and update documentation according to Purchasing Policy and Procedures.
  • Ability to use part information history and forecast to recommend safety stocks and purchasing releases.
  • Participate in PCN process.
  • Verify stock by requesting inventory counts.
  • Greet and assist incoming sales, guests, vendors and/or other visitors.
  • Maintain and manage company uniform services for manufacturing facility.
  • Follow and lead quality related functions within department.
