The Advantage of Warm Floors
Greenville, IL
Project Description
Greenville Airport is opening the doors to new possibilities with radiant heating powered by Enertech’s Advantage air-to-water heat pump. The goal: to go all-electric while maintaining a comfortable working environment. Radiant in-floor heating does just that by keeping the floors warm and reducing the recovery time that comes with opening and closing a 70 ft. wide hanger door. With a 4,000 ft runway, the Greenville Airport is ideal for recreational flying. Among the 50 airplanes that call this airport home are planes used for skydiving, agriculture spraying, and pilot lessons. In addition, there is an active Pilots Association that hosts many events along with the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Young Eagles Program, introducing children years 8 to 17 to aviation.
Installation Details
The original plan was to install a propane tank and use a gas powered boiler. When thinking long-term and weighing costs and efficiencies, this municipal airport opted for air-to-water heat pumps. Enertech’s two AV060 units provide radiant in-floor heating for this 10,000 sq. ft. hanger. With one large open space, this install required two zones of radiant heat for capacity and flow rate.
